Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

Raleigh is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Raleigh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ Zenscapes is amazing! We came for the handmade crystal spiders but found so much more! What a fun shop, and such friendly and welcoming store owners. Everything is curated so nicely and the prices are reasonable. WORTH THE TRIP!

In August 2024, I randomly turned into the driveway of this unusual complex of buildings after seeing a sign at the road advertising some type of sale. On a whim, I stopped in and met Dasha. Over the next few weeks, I purchased several plants and was extremely happy with both the quality of the plants and the guidance she provided. By October, I returned to purchase many more plants. Dasha helped me make the best decisions for my yard while also taking into account my complete lack of a green thumb. She listened to my vague ideas, evaluated the space, and created a landscape design that felt natural, beautiful, and manageable for me to maintain. Most recently, she designed and sourced additional plants for a very large new front-yard bed after walking the property and developing a planting plan. She even painted the layout lines for the bed edges, which helped me better visualize the project before installation. We are continuing to develop additional landscape plans for the property, including ground cover selections, filling in sparse areas, replacing several pink Drift roses (I absolutely hate pink), and creating a plant map so I can better identify and maintain everything ov

We've been meaning to make our way out here to check out the plant selection and so happy that we did! Not only is Zenscapes one of the coolest plant stores we've been to, but the owner is phenomenal. A large variety of outdoor plants and trees. No fruit trees currently, but the owner did say that she can potentially find what you're looking for if the request is put in ahead of time. She's so friendly and knowledgeable and also has a large selection of garden art, some of which she even makes herself. Very dog friendly and the prices are great!
